Did you try googling Microsoft document explorer 2008 failed to install? I found some good information about the problem by doing that. Seems to be a common occurrence.

Heres one thing to try: If your CD-ROM driver is D, go to this directory "D:\msdn\WCU\DExplore" and run DExplore.exe( Document Explorer 2007). Run the installation again.

Yeah I found something about going to the regedit and finding something in the classes software thing and adding permissions to one of the registry files, but I dont know how to do it.

I wonder if it could also be because I dont have the requirements. you need a 2.4 Ghz CPU and i only have a 1.5

Well to get into the registry you go to start > run > type in regedit > hit Ok

Its possibly because you don't have the minimum requirements. Sometimes though if you don't meet them the software will tell you upon install. Funny thing is my computer is only 1.5Ghz too.
