I'm just going to post a bunch of links of news pages that discuss it. I saw the top one first. I recommend that one.

So, is it scary that hackers could hack this network? I don't see why you would put something that large and important on a network.

Yeah exactly! Why would they even consider connecting something that could potentially destroy the world to the outside world?

well said phoenix...-.-;; That is basically what they are. I just don't understand why people insist of having such important delicate information on a network, it's complete ignorance on their part. Sure it makes communicating easier, but some things could probably not be put on a network, or atleast on a private network that is NOT connected to the main network in anyway. like a VPN, but far more superior. Maybe a VLAPN(Virtual Local Area Private Network)...Im sure they have something like this, but my current inability to do research due to extreme laziness and lack of motivation prohibits me from doing such.

I heard that the scientists at the LHC were storing the info for this test on tape drives (WOO! go tape drives!) even though tape drives are expensive, i still use them, because they are the most reliable method to store data

Tape Drives, LOL! That's so old school, but it's like so old, that no one would guess that they'd use it... and they're like super reliable too o_o

I loved how those big reel-to-reels looked. They always reminded me of some face... like the two reels being eyes.... xD I don't know how to explain it.

Theres actually a name for inanimate objects that look like faces. I can't think of what it though.
