Lapping a cpu

Ok, i think at least some of you have heard of this, basically, its sanding down the IHS on the cpu, till its flat

It will lower temps, theres no question about that, just gotta be very careful.

You can also do this to the base of the heat-sink. preferably you would do it to both the heat-sink and cpu.

the reason this lowers temps is that the heat-sink and the IHS on the cpu have imperfections, and the thermal paste fills in the cracks, so if you lap the cpu and/or the heat sink the thermal grease doesnt have to fill in so many imperfections, so it makes better contact, and it conducts heat better because of that
