Ugh, I hate colleges

21 posts in this topic

I hate how colleges call you nonstop to go to their shit, it's annoying as fuck.

If I would be going to college chances are I know where I wanna go and don't need some randoms help.

Not to mention those ridiculous college fees aren't even worth it once you get out!

Just venting a little, feel free to ignore this.

Yeah, it depends on where you want to attend on the price, community college in california is about 33/unit, which comes to about 400/semester + books ( :( ). I transferred schools and went from 65 units to 15, so I basically restarted, and that sucks really bad. And all because states have different requirements for the same degree or don't recognize the courses regardless of the similarityh of the course.

I'm not even sure if I want to attend college tbh. I'll only be going to learn 3D animation, I can probably learn a lot with having a job and learning on the side over 2 years than going to school and being in debt 80k+.

Problem nowadays, is that jobs don't look for the knowledge they look for the piece of paper.

Exactly, and its such bullshit. See the problem is employers need physical evidence that shows you might be "qualified" for the job. Otherwise they would have to take your word for whatever knowledge/experience you claim to have. For many occupations a college degree doesn't mean anything. All it does is make it so that anyone can't sit down and try to be hired for any job. A case in point scenario would be if you know someone higher up in a company and they know you know you're stuff and have a lot of experience, you can get hired just on those merits alone sans degree.

Personally I think jobs need entrance tests.

Well in fields like game art, all you need is a good showreel (like a portfolio) and a decent resume. They'll take someone who has an epic showreel with no college over someone with the degree but a shitty showreel.

It also comes down to who you know. The industry I'm trying to get into is oversaturated so it's all about contacts etc.

Back with what he quoted. There are a lot of stupid people out there who don't even know how to go to college.
