The ORB Survey: Complete Bullshit

5 posts in this topic

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ORB_survey_of..._War_casualties

1,720 people 18+ were surveyed, out of which 1,499 responded.

78% said nobody in their household had died as a result of the conflict in Iraq since 2003.

16% said one person in their household died as a result of the conflict in Iraq since 2003.

5% said two people in their household died as a result of the conflict in Iraq since 2003.

1% said three people in their household died as a result of the conflict in Iraq since 2003.

0.002% said four or more people in their household died as a result of the conflict in Iraq since 2003.

So, 78% of the 1,499 said NOBODY in their household had died, so how does this translate into their estimate of over 1,000,000 deaths? You tell me.

I was trying to point out that these idiots who do these polls pull numbers out of their ass, and anyone who says more than 1,000,000 people have died from the conflict in Iraq are complete retards.

but a 1500 person survey isnt enough to conclude that the same pecentage is consistant with the whole country

You're right, but it doesn't mean 1,000,000 Iraqis have died. Too bad the ultra-left LA times or whoever published that shit in a newspaper wanted to make things seem much worse than they actually are.

Just saying, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the survey was complete bullshit and they shouldn't have used those numbers.
