Play for Fun Model
From the 1970s to the early 2000s, the play-for model began where players didn’t have any opportunity to monetize games, and the only thing they could do was purchase games and subscriptions for fun. In the P2F model, a gamer had to purchase a gaming console or game disc but no source of income. Some popular games in the play-for-fun model include FIFA, Pacman, and Super Mario.
